A key site for the recovery and management of construction materials

The Salbertrand valorisation site will be developed on a plot of approximately 110,000 m², located near the A32 motorway, on land previously used as storage areas where materials had accumulated over the years.

It will host several key facilities: a processing plant for excavated materials intended for reuse in the production of concrete for the tunnel, a segment lining (precast concrete segments) production plant for the tunnel lining, as well as a sorting and rail loading area for transport to the storage sites of Torrazza Piemonte and Caprie for non-reusable materials.

A first cleanup phase was carried out between 2021 and 2022, involving the removal of approximately 26,000 m³ of materials across a 40,000 m² area. A new tender process is currently underway for the rehabilitation of an additional 30,000 m² area, including more than 80,000 m³ of materials, such as railway sleepers and construction materials.

Strengthened environmental monitoring

The site is subject to strict environmental monitoring. TELT has carried out in-depth studies of groundwater and soil conditions. Since March 2021, an Environmental Monitoring Plan (PMA) has been implemented across all construction sites to track various environmental components (water, air, soil, etc.).

At Salbertrand, enhanced monitoring has been introduced, including soil core sampling for laboratory chemical analyses, as well as monthly groundwater monitoring.
