Our ambition

The cross-border section of the Lyon–Turin rail link carries a strong ambition: to deliver a modern, high-performance and sustainable railway infrastructure capable of meeting economic, environmental and mobility challenges at a European scale.

Develop a high-performance and sustainable rail infrastructure

One of the core objectives is to provide a reliable alternative to road transport. Thanks to its optimised alignment and technical characteristics, the base tunnel will enable more trains to run, at higher speeds and under improved energy-efficiency conditions.

Improving passenger mobility

The future line will bring Lyon and Turin closer together and facilitate access to the wider European rail network. Passengers will benefit from shorter journey times and increased service frequency.

Strengthening regional economy and innovation

The project generates jobs, boosts local economic activity and fosters industrial innovation. The construction sites also act as technical, environmental and logistical laboratories, driving progress in the civil engineering and transport sectors.

Ensuring an exemplary and transparent construction site

TELT is committed to a responsible approach, combining safety, integrity, transparency, stakeholder engagement, environmental protection and respect for local communities.

A modern logistics corridor to strengthen European competitiveness

Existing infrastructure, which is ageing and saturated, is no longer suited to growing mobility and logistics needs. The Mont Cenis base tunnel, crossing the Alps at low altitude, will allow longer, heavier and faster trains to operate under significantly optimised conditions. This new connection secures the Mediterranean corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and enhances the fluidity of exchanges between France, Italy, Spain and Central Europe.

Throughout the route, local authorities are involved in the governance of the project and receive dedicated support. TELT works in close cooperation with territorial stakeholders to adapt infrastructure works, manage disturbances, promote local employment and ensure direct economic benefits, particularly in the Maurienne and Susa valleys. Territorial engagement is an integral part of the project, bringing together local authorities, companies, elected representatives, residents and associations.

Citizens’ health

Throughout the entire construction period, TELT monitors air quality, water, noise and vibrations around the worksites.

Anti-mafia and anti-corruption measures

Companies involved in the project are subject to thorough checks in accordance with French and Italian regulations.

Excellence & innovation

The project relies on cutting-edge techniques.

Adherence to deadlines and budgets

As a major European project, control of the schedule and budgets is a strategic priority.

A shared commitment
